PORTLAND, Oregon - The Portland Police Bureau, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for your help in solving a 2009 homicide.

On Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Central Precinct officers were called to the 4100 block of Southwest Hamilton Street. Upon arrival, the officers found Nancy Bergeson deceased in her home. The officers notified the Oregon State Medical Examiner and one of their representatives responded to the scene to assist with the death investigation.

The medical examiner at the scene initially believed that Ms. Bergeson died as a result of natural causes. Ms. Bergeson was removed from her home and was transported to the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office. While performing the autopsy on Ms. Bergeson, the Medical Examiner determined that Ms. Bergeson actually died as a result of homicidal violence. Investigators were able to determine that there were signs that Ms. Bergeson fought back against her attacker.

There is no suspect information and no known motive for her death.
