Suspected DUII driver leads Clark County Sheriff's Office on pursuit

On 10.11.17 at 2330 hours a Clark County Deputy attempted to make contact with vehicle in the 200 block of NE Chkalov to determine if the vehicle had been involved in a collision or was in need of assistance. The silver PT cruiser was missing its passenger side front tire. Upon contact the vehicle fled northbound on NE Chkalov / NE 112th Ave in a reckless manner. The PT cruiser was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of travel, throwing sparks from the area of the missing tire and disobeying traffic control lights. Vancouver Police assisted in the pursuit as it continued northbound on NE 112th Ave and into the 5 corners area in Orchards. The PT Cruiser finally came to a stop in a driveway in the 10500 block of NE 71st St.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested without incident. The male passenger was identified and later released.

The driver: Carpenter, Charles J 07-16-1994 will be booked for Driving Under the Influence, Attempting to Elude and Driving while Suspended in the 2nd degree.

During the pursuit Carpenter swerved at Deputies as they attempted to perform a PIT maneuver.
