PORTLAND, Oregon - The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is responding to assist Central Precinct at Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Davis Street with a crash investigation. Traffic in the area will be affected for several hours.
On Saturday September 23, 2017, at 6:40 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Davis Street on the report that a pedestrian was injured after being struck by a driver.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and provided immediate medical aid to the injured male pedestrian, who has been transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officers contacted the involved driver, who remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard is closed to all traffic from Northeast Lloyd Boulevard to East Burnside Street. Northeast Davis Street is closed from Grand to 3rd Avenues. Roads are expected to remain closed for several hours. Northeast 12th Avenue to the East is the nearest point to cross I-84.
Due to the severity of the man's injuries, the Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is responding to conduct an investigation.
