June 6, 2017 --- On June 5, 2017, just after 11:15pm, Washington County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash at the Gales Creek Bridge, near Forest Grove.

The initial investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling south on B Street towards Highway 47 when it traveled into the oncoming lanes. The driver attempted to steer back into the proper lane when the vehicle struck a concrete barrier for the bridge.

The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. The intense impact severed the vehicle into two pieces. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and did not survive the impact. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol played a role in this crash.

At this time, deputies are working on next-of-kin notification. For that reason, no name or identifying information for the driver can be released at this time.

Members of the inter-agency Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) responded to the scene to assist.
