On 5.30.17 at 1841 hours a Clark County Deputy made a traffic stop in the 2300 block of NE Lockwood Creek Rd. The driver was distracted by his cell phone almost hitting the Deputy head on. After initial contact, the vehicle fled the stop and drove down a nearby road towards several rural residences. The Deputy followed the vehicle which continued into a field at which time the driver fled from the vehicle towards more single family residences. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Portland.
Assisting units in the area noticed a black truck leaving the same area in a reckless manner and tried to stop it. The truck sped away eastbound on NE Lockwood Creek Rd. At the same time, a citizen reported to Deputies that her black truck had just been stolen. The black truck refused to stop for Law Enforcement and continued to the area of NE Gable Av and 339th St. Spike strips were successfully deployed in the area of NE 339th St and NE Gable Av. The driver of the stolen black truck abandoned the truck and jumped into an unoccupied Subaru at a residence in the area of NE 339th St and 118th Av.
The suspect, now driving the Subaru, encountered Deputies in the area and appeared to intentionally drive towards them causing them to take evasive action. The Subaru, now westbound on NE 339th St crossed NE Gable Ave and due to excessive speed, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole in the 10200 block of NE 339th St severing a power pole. It was discovered the driver had fled the vehicle to the north and east.
