At 8:11 a.m. Monday, May 29, 2017, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an alarm call at the Clackamas County Bank, 28500 SE Hwy 212 in Boring, unincorporated Clackamas County.
Upon arrival, deputies found a male sitting in a car parked in front of the bank. As deputies approached they could hear what sounded like a saw coming from inside the bank. The male in the car started honking the horn when he saw Deputies approaching. Deputies could see that someone had forced entry into the bank, a glass door was broken.
While detaining the male who was in the car another male ran out of the broken door of the bank. He was wearing a mask covering his face. As he fled Deputies ordered him to stop and he complied. Both males were taken into custody without incident.
Not knowing if there were other suspects in the building Deputies used a robot to search the building. After finding no one else inside they investigated the scene.
The suspects had done a substantial amount of damage to the back of the ATM machine, but were not successful in getting any money. They had several tools they were using, to include a reciprocating saw and demolition hammer.
The bank reported the repairs to the ATM would cost several thousands of dollars.
