MCSO Deputies assisted with a fatal traffic crash in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 west of NE 238th Ave.
Investigators have determined that a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck was travelling eastbound in the center lane of Interstate 84 when it came to a stop, along with several other vehicles, due to debris in the roadway.
The obstruction was cleared from the roadway and traffic began to move again. The Chevrolet pickup experienced a mechanical problem and was not able to move from where it had stopped. A 2012 Dodge Caravan struck the rear of the Chevrolet pickup at freeway speeds.
The passenger in the Chevrolet pickup, GLEN HAMPTON, age 60 from Lyle, Washington, died at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup, LINDA HAMPTON, age 67 from Lyle, Washington, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Caravan, JACK YOUNG, age 75 from Troutdale, Oregon, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
MCSO was assisted at the scene by the Gresham Police Department, Fairview Police Department, Gresham Fire Department, American Medical Response and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 are expected to re-open by 12:30am. Refer to www.tripcheck.com for updated closure information.

Investigators are still working on notifying the families of the individuals involved in this crash. Once this had been completed, additional information will be released to the media.
