Man Reportedly Threatening People, Shot Dead After Chase With Portland Police

PORTLAND, Oregon - On Wednesday at 7:03 p.m., police received a report that a man in his 20s was threatening people on the TriMet Flavel Street Transit Station. Police found and chased the suspect on foot, onto a bridge over Johnson Creek on the north side of Flavel Street. A police officer then shot the suspect.

Police say they gave aid until paramedics arrived but paramedics found the man had died. No officers were injured during this encounter.

The officer who discharged his firearm is a member of the Portland Police Bureau and was partnered with a Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputy as part of their assignment to the multi-agency Transit Police Division. A West Linn Police Department officer assigned to the Transit Division was also near the scene of the encounter.

Police have not yet released information about the man shot to death, may not yet have that information to confirm the suspect's age or other identifying information.
