PORTLAND, Oregon - On Monday at 8:48 p.m., a disturbance with a weapon occurred in the 4100 block of Northeast Killingsworth Street. As Portland police officers were responding to the scene, they received an update that someone fired a handgun during the disturbance.
Officers arrived in the area and located the suspect, 57-year-old Dee Overton Johnson, who was arrested without incident. Officers located and seized a handgun from Johnson's vehicle.
Officers learned that Johnson was involved in an argument with a 59-year-old male associate which turned physical before Johnson fired a shot into the ground.
Johnson was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Menacing, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm in the City, and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree.
Crime Stoppers of Oregon offers a minimum $250 cash reward to anyone who reports a convicted felon or a juvenile in possession of a firearm and tipsters can remain anonymous.
Under Oregon law, persons under the age of 18 years old (generally) and persons convicted of a felony crime may not lawfully possess firearms.
