Fire District 3 responded to a structure fire in the Battle Ground Village Complex,813 W. Main St. this evening at 7:29 P.M. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke emitting from the roof of the structure. Smoke was visible from all sides of the structure and one Heating and Air Conditioning unit on the roof. First-in attack crews eventually located the fire at the floor level in the Curves establishment. The fire was confined to the interior of Curves
Additional crews checked for possible fire extension in the attic space. The fire was confined to the origin area. Firefighters worked for about two hours to remove the smoke from the building and extinguish hot spots. All businesses in the complex, with the exception of Curves should be able to reopen on Tuesday. The fire damage to curves is estimated at several thousand dollars.
The Clark County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.Five engines, 3 Staff Vehicles, and approximately 20 fire personnel responded to the scene. Mutual aid units from Clark County Fire & Rescue, Vancouver Fire Department, Battle Ground Police Department, Clark County Fire Marshal, American Medical Response and Clark Public Utilities assisted at the scene. There were no injuries.
