A Clark County Jail inmate who escaped from the Clark County Jail on May 12, 2016, has been apprehended in Illinois. Michael Diontae Johnson, 30, was apprehended today by the United States Marshals Service in the state of Illinois following a multi-agency investigation into the escape. The U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, as well as the Clark County Sheriff's Office Tactical Detective Unit, worked with the U.S. Marshals Service in Illinois to locate and arrest Johnson.
"I'm extemely grateful to the federal and local law enforcement officers, both here and in Illinois, who worked so hard to locate and apprehend Johnson," said Clark County Sheriff Chuck Atkins.
Additional information regarding Johnson and the investigation will be released later.
