Wife Pleads Guilty in Death of Husband

On June 1, 2016, Carolyn Rae Dimatteo pleaded guilty to Criminally Negligent Homicide with a Firearm for the December 26, 2015 shooting death of her husband Joseph Dimatteo, age 69.

On December 26, 2015, the defendant called 911 to report that she had shot her husband in their 5th wheel trailer at 11517 Kingdom Lane SE, Stayton, Oregon. Mr. Dimatteo was shot one time in the chest. She was arrested following an investigation by the Marion County Sheriff's office. Thereafter, a Marion County grand jury indicted her for Criminally Negligent Homicide.

The defendant had no criminal history. She was sentenced to five years of supervised probation with conditions of probation including mental health counseling, drug and alcohol counseling, community service, and financial obligations including restitution.
