BEAVERTON, Oregon - Deputies responded to a crash where a motorcycle left the roadway and collided with a bridge railing. The rider did not survive his injuries and his passenger received serious injuries.
On April 11, 2016, at 8:46 p.m., Washington County Sheriff's Deputies were called to SW Highway 219 north of SW Wolsborn Avenue concerning a motorcycle crash.
Sheriff's Deputies arrived and found a 2011 Suzuki SX7 (photo inset) heavily damaged on its side on SW Highway 219. Sheriff's Deputies determined the Suzuki was travelling south on SW Highway 219, failed to negotiate a bridge, crashed, and ejected the rider and passenger.
Sheriff's Deputies found Mark Sellars, 28, from Beaverton, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His passenger, a 29 year-old female, was found over an embankment and about 40 feet down a ravine. She was transported by Life Flight to a local hospital where she was reported in critical condition.
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue assisted with the crash. Sheriff's Deputies were not preliminarily able to determine why Mr. Sellars left the roadway.
Highway 219 was closed for about three hours to gather evidence and document the scene. Investigators have not determined if there were other factors that contributed to this crash. This case is still under investigation.
