Fatal Crash Investigation Continuing in Deschutes County

On March 31, 2016 at about 6:30PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two vehicle head-on crash on Highway 126 near milepost 108 (just west of Redmond near 67th Street).

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2002 Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on Highway 126 when it crossed the centerline into the westbound lane, colliding with a 2003 Chrysler van head-on.

The driver of the Chrysler, Jason M FRANKLIN, age 41, of Madras, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford, Justice K COLLINS, age 18, of Prineville, was taken to St Charles Bend for non-life threatening injuries.

OSP was assisted on scene by the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Redmond Fire and Rescue and the Oregon Department of Transportation. This is a preliminary release. More information will released as it becomes available.
