On Monday March 28, 2016 a 21-year-old Ilwaco man was lodged in the Clatsop County Jail for crimes involving online sexual corruption and sexual abuse of a local teenage girl. Following a month long investigation by the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office, Jesse Lee Jetland was arrested in Astoria. Jetland was lodged in the Clatsop County Jail Monday afternoon on two counts of Sodomy II, and one count each of Online Sexual Corruption I, Rape I and Burglary I.

In late January of this year, the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office received a report indicating the parents of a local middle school student had found Jetland in the girl's bed. Evidence revealed Jetland had secretly entered the residence nearly a day earlier and hid in the bedroom with the girl while intermittently have sexual contact with her throughout the day. Further investigation revealed that Jetland used a popular social networking site to arrange his in-person meeting with the girl. It is also believed that Jetland provided the girl and one of her friends with marijuana and tobacco products while at the residence. Parents of both girls are aware of the situation and have been assisting law enforcement in this investigation.

Evidence found during this investigation indicates Jetland was communicating with other underage females in the Clatsop County area. Anyone with information pertaining to Jetland and his encounters with underage people in Clatsop County are asked to contact the Clatsop County Sheriff's Office. Parents are encouraged to examine their children's online social networks and pay particular attention to friends lists and messaging services.
