On Monday March 28, 2016, at 5:39 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to Sandy Boulevard at Northeast 87th Avenue on the report of a crash involving a driver in a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the male adult pedestrian suffering from traumatic injuries. He was transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital for treatment.
The driver, an adult female, remained at the scene and was cooperative with police.
Preliminary information indicates that the driver was traveling westbound when she struck the man in the street, between 87th and 88th Avenues, not in any crosswalk.
Traffic Division officers are at the scene and are investigating the crash.
Sandy Boulevard, from 87th to Prescott, is closed and is expected to remain so for a few hours.
Drivers are encouraged to use Killingsworth or Prescott Streets as alternate routes.
