Police Canine Tracks Residential Burglar Caught in the Act -- Suspect Arrested

On Monday March 21, 2016, at 2:48 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a residential burglary in the 1800 block of Southwest River Drive.

Officers arrived in the area and saw the suspect exit the residence, drop some items, and run as soon as police attempted contact.

Additional officers, including a Police Canine Unit, arrived in the area, established containment, and began searching for the suspect.

Officers located the suspect, who ran a second time, but was quickly captured by the Canine Unit.

The suspect, 26-year-old Kale Landon Phillips, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Interfering with a Peace Officer (two counts), and Escape in the Third Degree.
