Duplex Fire In Dallas

DALLAS, Oregon - Just after 5 PM last night, a fire broke out at the 300 block of SE Mill St. Firefighters found an attached garage of one of the duplexes fully involved. Firefighters had the fire extinguished within approximately 30 minutes of their arrival. Prior to firefighters arriving, one of the adult occupants attempted to put out the fire with a garden hose.

The occupant sustained a non life threatening injury and was transported by Dallas Fire & EMS to a local hospital. Two families were displaced and are working with the American Red Cross for temporary housing. As a result of the fire, two cats perished. The cause of the fire in under investigation by Dallas Fire & EMS and estimated loss is $150,000. Dallas Fire & EMS was assisted by Polk County Fire District #1, Dallas Police and The American Red Cross.
