Babysitter Arrested on Drug Charges After Missing Child Located

On Monday, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Yamhill County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 700 block of S.W. 3rd Street in the City of Sheridan on a missing 4 year old child.

Deputies met with the resident,identified as 50 year old Jill Michelle Auxier. Auxier advised she was babysitting for a friend. She stated she had taken a shower while the 4 year old child was watching a movie. The child was gone when Auxier returned at which time she searched in and around the house without success.

Deputies searched the residence and found the child hiding under a large chair in the living room. In the process of looking for the child, they smelled the strong odor of burnt marijuana in the bathroom. Auxier admitted to having smoked marijuana in the bathroom while the child had been watching T.V.

In addition to marijuana paraphernalia, deputies recovered methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia in the house. Some of the items were located in the living room within reach of the child.

Auxier was arrested on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor. She was lodged at the Yamhill County Jail and her bail is currently listed at $12,500.
