NEAR OLYMPIA, Wash. -- An elderly woman is fighting for her life after being attacked by several dogs in Thurston County late Sunday.
West Thurston County Fire crews and the Thurston County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Entree View Dr. SW in the Scott Lake Community at about 5:08 p.m.
The elderly woman had gone to visit her neighbor who was not home at the time, but it is not uncommon for the woman to enter that home unannounced, according to Sheriff deputies. At some point after going inside the house, the woman was attacked by up to four dogs.
Only one of the dogs belongs to the homeowner, the other three belong to a relative and were there to be dog sat.
As the elderly woman was being mauled by the pack, the homeowner arrived and immediately intervened to stop the animals. The homeowner then called 911.
The 92-year old woman suffered life threatening injuries from the attack and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.
The four dogs are all varieties of Pitbull mixes and range from juvenile to adult in ages.
It's unknown at this time if the dogs were quarantined by animal control.
The Thurston County Sheriff's Office said no criminal charges are being filed as of this point.
