GRESHAM, Oregon - The City of Gresham has fenced a 60-acre open space commonly known as Gresham Woods, and closed the area to public use due to environmental degradation caused by foot traffic, camping and other activity.

Much of the area has been destroyed by vandals including the temporary fencing that had been installed. Gresham Police are investigating the vandalism and offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone may call the Gresham Police Tip Line at 503-618-2719 to report information on this crime.

The City is evaluating barrier options going forward. The natural resource restriction area remains in effect; trespassers to this area will be subject to arrest and prosecution. Gresham Police will be increasing their presence on the Springwater Trail in the coming days and weeks.
