Motorcycle driver and pickup crash

Portland Police Bureau - 02/24/16 9:35 PM On Wednesday February 24, 2016, at 8:51 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to Northwest 18th Avenue and Johnson Street on the report of a traffic crash.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and learned that a motorcycle rider and pick-up truck driver were involved in a crash and that the motorcycle rider suffered traumatic injuries.

The male motorcycle rider has been transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital with injuries that may be life-threatening. A female passenger on the motorcycle was also transported by ambulance to the hospital with less serious injuries. The pick-up truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The intersection of 18th and Johnson is closed for several blocks in all directions.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is responding to conduct an investigation into the crash.

No additional updates are expected this evening.
