PORTLAND, Oregon - Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire at 3836 SE Knight St. at 8:45 am. When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the eaves of the house which indicated that the fire was in the attic. Crews went inside the house to make sure everyone had gotten out and then began putting the fire out in the attic. Crews also went to the roof to cut holes to let the heat and smoke out.

It took an hour to get the fire under control. Crews will remain at the house putting out hot spots for several more hours.

The two occupants in the house got out safely and no injuries were reported. Two cats were located and safely removed. PF&R's Arson Squad is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
