Sheriff's Deputies responded to an assault of a student by another student about 11AM today. Investigation determined that while at the school, a CRHS male student confronted another CRHS male student and struck the victim over the head with a metal club like instrument and then fled the scene. The victim student was treated at the school by EMS for an open laceration to his head. He was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital.

His wound is not thought to be life threatening. The suspect student was located on school grounds and was taken into custody. Due to the severity of the assault, detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are conducting this investigation. The suspect was booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention facility on a felony assault charge.

Nine Search and Rescue volunteers from four different SAR organizations, Evergreen Search Dogs, Clark County Sheriff SAR, SW Washington SAR and Search Dogs NW responded at the request of detectives and searched a wooded ravine northeast of the school where the suspect student had discarded the weapon. SAR teams located the weapon in the dense underbrush and it was recovered by investigators. No further information will be released at this time.
