Deaf Man Saves Deer From Icy River

by Gordon Grearson - The Oregon Herald Tuesday December 29, 2015    11:54 AM
A deaf man was driving over a bridge when he noticed a lone deer struggling to survive in the icy river below. He pulled over, walked through the woods, then crawled out onto the ice to save her.

After several attempts, he was able to get the rope around the deer, then sat next to the exhausted deer and recorded a quick video to share his experience while the deer sat by his side.

The man explains in sign language how he came to rescue the deer:

"I was driving along when I see this deer struggling to survive. I felt obligated to help her, so I pulled over, trekked through the woods, and crawled out onto the ice. I used a rope to pull her out. I am so glad she is safe. Now we need to find her mom."

[After he pets deer] "I will call her Miss Ice River. She must be so cold. I am so happy that she survived. Farewell."

The man told his friends that the deer then walked away into the woods, apparently to meet with its mother.

The location was not revealed in the video.

Youtube user Katy Tones wrote: "What a handsome man with a beautiful soul! Thank you for saving that deer, Sir. May G-d bless and protect you?."
