Mississippi Man shoots family of 5, killing father and daughter

Family members of the five victims in Brookhaven tell us two of them have died.

Ray Sims, a cousin to the family, said Jermaine Sims Sr. his wife and their four children were at the home when the shooting occurred. One of the children managed to run and hide during the attack, according to Ray Sims.

Police Chief Bobby Bell said Jermaine Sims Sr. has died along with one of the children.

Ethel Brown tells us the other deceased victim is her granddaughter, 9-year-old Jamiyah Sims. According to Brown, Jamiyah was shot five times in the head.

The two other children are still in a Jackson hospital. Jermaine's wife, Victoria is in a hospital in McComb.

Family members tell us that Jimmy Lyons was renting a room from the Sims family.

Lyons has been arrested in connection with the crime. His charges have been upgraded to two counts of murder and three counts of aggravated assault.

Brookhaven Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting at a home that left 5 people injured.

32-year-old Jimmy Lyons, who's address is listed as South 1st Street, in Brookhaven is in the Lincoln County Jail.

Four of his alleged victims are being treated at a Jackson Hospital and another victim is in intensive care at another hospital.Police Chief Bobby Bell confirmed that the victims are 31-year-old Jermaine Sims and 29-year-old Victoria Sims. The other victims are children ages 14, 9, and 6 years old, according to the chief.

Lyons is charged with five counts of aggravated assault.

PIKE COUNTY, Miss. - According to Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman, five people have been shot in Brookhaven.

Four are being treated at a Jackson Hospital and another victim is in intensive care at another hospital.

No official word on their names or ages at this time. There are several reports that several of the victims are children.

No word yet on any arrests either. News Channel 12's Malary Pullen is on her way to Brookhaven. We'll have much more for you on this story on air and online throughout the morning.
