6-Year-Old Boy Critical After Snowboarding Into Passing Car

by Sandra Blodget - The Oregon Herald Thursday January 29, 2015    8:34 AM

WASHINGTON DC - While snowboarding, a 6-year-old boy accidentally slammed into a passing car on a steep driveway in McLean near Washington DC. The boy was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The accident occurred about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday when the boy was hit by a passing 2015 Lexus as he was snowboarding on a steep driveway in the 7000 block of Matthew Mills Road.

The 65-year-old driver of the Lexus, a McLean resident, said he heard a loud noise when the boy plowed into his car and knew right away what had happened. The driver immediately got out and rendered aid to the boy.

The boy remains in critical condition.

Police said speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash and that no charges have been filed against the driver.
